TABLESCAPE AT THE BAY

This my first time posting to one of the most popular events in blogland. Thank you to Susan for hosting us each week.

I had this ottoman at our house in Atlanta, and didn't really have room for it. I needed a coffee table at the Bay house, so voila! I had it reupholstered in this palm fabric and topped it with an antique pine tray from Bittersweet Antiques on Bennett Street, in Atlanta.

This colorful flower arrangement was created for me by the owner of Orleans Antiques in Fairhope, Alabama. The colors pick up on the chair which you can see in the picture at the end of the post.

The shell-shaped planter is a hand-me-down from my mother. She had had it for at least 30 years. When we bought our beach house, she thought I should have it. I agreed!

This pretty little palm tree dish is from Orleans Antiques.

This wonderful cross is handmade of clay, by an artist in south Alabama. It's one of my favorite things. It's what we refer to as a "hurricane cross". We have them all over the place to protect us from hurricanes, down here on the Gulf coast.

A few of my favorite books!

I bought this pitcher at the Shrimp Festival in Gulf Shores, Alabama. It was made by a local potter. The cute little crab is another find from Orleans, in Fairhope.

MERMAID MONDAY

smiling sally.blogspot.com

Thanks to Sally for another fun Monday event!

MERMAIDS, BEACH BABES AND OTHER FUN FINDS

Although, I try not to do "theme" rooms, I let myself go a little bit crazy with my bedroom at the Bay house.

This metal sculpture mermaid hangs on the door, her siren call welcoming us into the room.

I couldn't resist adding some "adornments" --- a couple of earrings that have lost their mates.

This mermaid, painted in oil, hangs over the bed. Kind of the beach version of a guardian angel!

Unfortunately, my poor photography doesn't show the lovely soft shade of green on the walls or the wall-to-wall sea grass on the floor.
