SKYWATCH FRIDAY
Today, I'm participating in a new (for me!) event, called Skywatch Friday.

My photo is a sunset over Mobile Bay, on the Alabama Gulf Coast. We have particularly vivid sunsets during the Fall months.

HAPPY PINK SATURDAY!
Today, I'm happy to be joining Beverly http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com for Pink Saturday.
I've always said that if my fairy godmother granted me one wish, I would wish to be artistic. Isn't going to happen! But, I recently discovered a really fun place called "Life's A Canvas," and I go there every week and paint a picture. Now, I know it looks like elementary school art, but that's OK... because I'm having so much fun! This week, in honor of my birthday tomorrow, I painted myself a big cupcake.
Yesterday, I came home to find this beautiful flower arrangement on my front porch. My sweet sister sent it to me for my birthday. I don't get flowers very often, so this was very special!

ON CHILDREN
At this time of year, as many people have children going to school for the first time or going away to college, I thought this poem very apropos. I hadn't thought of it in years. Thanks to Slim Paley http://slimpaley.com for including this in her cute post, about her son leaving for college.

TULIPS!
Sometimes, a girl has to buy herself flowers! I love tulips, and when I saw these at Publix, I decided to treat myself. Unfortunately, I didn't get around to taking pictures until they were a little past their prime.

HUSKY LOVE
In honor of the recently completed 2012 Iditarod, I'm posting some pictures of my beautiful canine granddaughter, a Husky named Okami. Her dad rescued her in a parking lot at a rural Dollar Store. She's worth a million dollars to him! Although underweight and frightened when he found her, she was deemed young and healthy by the veterinarian. She quickly flourished under the TLC my son lavished on her and is now a member of our family dog pack---currently 7 strong!

CUPCAKE & COWBOY AT THE BEACH ON LEAP DAY
A sunny day in the 70's on February 29th! Yep, this is why I live on the Gulf Coast! Cupcake and Cowboy play on the beach all day long, except when they're running out on the wharf to terrorize pelicans, seagulls, ducks and our resident Great Blue Heron. The birds are soooo [not] scared.
The white azalea bushes are beginning to bloom. I'm crazy for white flowers.
The weeping willow tree is greening up quite nicely.
The little garden of salad greens has flourished all winter (what winter?) long.
The red leaf lettuce is my favorite. Arugula packs a punch in a salad, too.
I love being able to pick fresh oregano and rosemary most every day of the year.
Think Spring!
