FURRY FIRST FRIDAYS

I'm so happy to be posting to this very first week of "Furry First Fridays". Since I have many dogs in my life, this is going to be fun!

VIOLET

Violet was a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. She was my dear little companion for 11 years. Unfortunately, this breed tends to develop heart problems as they age. Although she was taking a new "miracle drug" and seemed to be fine, I knew that she had begun to develop congestive heart failure.
A couple of weeks ago, she and I were alone at the beach house. At midnight, she walked over to where I was sitting and died at my feet. Although not unexpected, it's still always so heart-breaking to lose our beloved furry friends. I miss her terribly. But, I know she crossed over Rainbow Bridge and is once again a healthy, happy puppy. Rest in peace, sweet girl.

  1. Having just experienced the loss of our longtime girl Tinkerbell I understand the pain. Violet was a delightful doggy. I am sure she is happy as can be because she is free of pain and suffering! What a lovely post.

  4. I'm all choked up to hear about Violet...even knowing they aren't suffering anymore, it's still hard to lose a four-legged child/companion.

  8. I was so saddened to read about your little Violet. It brought tears to my eyes. I have a tri-colored Cavelier named Miss Scarlet and she is the love of my life. The breed is so beautiful and elegant but I do know that they do sometimes develop heart issues. How old was Violet? Miss Scarlet is four and has dry eyes. I have to give her meds twice a day but she is such a happy little thing.

{{{HUGS}}} to you on the loss of your precious little Violet.

  9. Oh, that's heartbreaking. I'm so sorry you lost your sweet girl. She was beautiful - what a great smile she had. I know that my Russ's time is coming and I am dreading it. I just can't imagine life without him but I know that he'll go to a better place where he can run around like he used to. Thanks so much for joining Furry First Fridays. I am so enjoying seeing everyone's pets. :) Have a great weekend!

    My condolences on your loss.
Thank you for sharing this tribute to Violet with furry First Friday so soon after her passing. She knew it was her time to cross and did it with someone she dearly loved nearby.

  13. My heart goes out to you. No matter how long we have them with us, it is never long enough. How precious that she came over to you and laid at your feet just before her passing. When we lost our little pug a few years ago, we were also there with her to comfort her as she let go. You must have many wonderful memories of Violet to cherish and cling to.

  14. Sorry, I must have missed your rooster party. I lost 2 close friends the first 12 days of Aug. and I am just getting around to the parties. BTW, we have the same dream - a cottage by the water ;) Blessings, Janet
